A child's or teenager's happiness is determined by the self-concept they have of themselves, from which they derive their self-esteem

  • Analysis of socio-emotional factors

Self-concept and self-esteem are processes that operate as communicating vessels in the natural development of children and adolescents. The essential ingredients are formed from an early age, some unconsciously and others with a strong intentional presence.

From an early age, children receive verbal and non-verbal messages about their identity and personal value, as well as about their performance in important areas of life, especially academic and interpersonal. This set of messages forms a belief system about him/herself and his/her relationship with others and the environment.

    📋 Social-emotional factors

Self-esteem is the natural derivation of a belief system about oneself (self-concept) that is positive and has been learned at home and assimilated by the child since birth through messages that are proactive in the face of challenge and resilient in the face of frustration. In the same way, when the circuit is negative, the self-concept will be denigrating and self-esteem will be low.

    📋 Social-emotional factors

As soon as the human being evolves, it elaborates processes of self-evaluation, as a direct derivation of the personal conscience. The criteria for this self-evaluation are strongly influenced by parental messages, and secondly by teachers, who subsidize children with their own perceptions and expectations. Adults constantly add value judgements to the behaviours that children and adolescents manifest until they assume them as part of their personal consciousness.

    📋 Social-emotional factors

In family relationships we observe the intergenerational transfer of communication patterns that are reinforced by repeated experiences of energy and information flow. When babies look at their parents to see how they feel and respond, they develop a social reference, and it is a fundamental process by which children come to regulate themselves and learn about the world.
